Wix Studio Web.Lab is an immersive web design program focused on expanding both technical fluency and creative authorship. Fifteen designers were selected to explore advanced Wix Studio features while developing a self-directed web experience that combined concept, craft, and narrative. The goal was not to build a conventional portfolio site but to use a specific Wix Studio capability as the foundation for a meaningful, story-driven experience.

Techno music emerged from Detroit as both a cultural response and a forward-looking vision—rooted in constraint, repetition, and rhythm. That structure closely mirrors how web interfaces guide attention through motion, pacing, and flow. This parallel became the foundation of the project: using motion and repetition not as decoration, but as narrative structure.

The challenge was not showcasing technical proficiency alone but demonstrating how a single product feature could be elevated into a narrative device—turning functionality into storytelling. In other words, how can a tool shape meaning, not just layout?

The experience was built around Wix Studio’s text marquee feature, used not as a decorative element but as the central narrative mechanism.
Motion: Continuous horizontal movement references the looping, hypnotic structure of techno music.
Typography: Treated as both content and texture—shifting between information and atmosphere.
Grid & Flow: Designed to encourage linear reading while maintaining a sense of momentum.
Pacing: The marquee’s cadence mirrors the genre’s mechanical repetition and forward drive.
The final site presents a focused, immersive narrative that demonstrates how interface mechanics can carry cultural meaning
